ABN Amro Bank Smart Gold Card Review

ABN Amro Smart Gold Card is designed for frequent flyers. The card is a travel card and offer benefits and privileges for the same. The card as it name suggest gives its user an opportunity to earn Smart Reward Points which can be converted to Smart Miles. These Smart Miles can be redeemed either for cash discounts on travel or against free tickets to any destination in the world. As for the Smart Miles you earn 2 points for every Rs 100 spent though value of each Smart Miles in term of rupees is not mentioned.

Apart from this the card has nothing new or exciting to offer its users. Surprisingly the card does not even have Airport Lounge access as an exclusive feature for its users. Considering the card being a travel card this is severe setback in the success of the card. The card has Cash Back offers on the Reward Points earned, however, its does not offer Cash Back on travel purchases as a separate feature.

The card does not even offer travel insurance to its users which is yet another important feature of the Travel card. On the contrary the card has a high Joining and Annual fee in comparison to other travel cards. The card has a Joining fee of Rs 500 and Annual fee of Rs 2000 making it one of the most expensive travel cards on offer.

The card when compared to other travel card like Citibank Ultima Credit Card falls short of expectations with regards to benefits and features on offer. Also Citibank’s Ultima Credit card has no Joining or Annual fee in comparison to ABN Amro’s Smart Gold Card which not only has a high Joining and Annual fee but also high interest rate offering of 3.5% p.m.
