Citibank Cash Rewards Credit Card Review

Citibank Cash Rewards Credit Card is designed exclusively for shoppers. The card like its name suggests have features like Cashback and Reward points for its users. The card though has features which are common with other shopping cards; the exclusivity of it lies in the host of options available for Cashback and Reward redemptions.
The card has Powerful Rewards Program but only for shopping on weekends. On weekends you earn 5X rewards, i.e., 5 points on every Rs. 200 spent. However shopping on weekdays could be irrational since you earn 1 point for every Rs. 200 you spend. Lack of uniformity on reward points is a real setback for this card. Redemption of reward points could be very exciting on the card. You can redeem points on statement outstanding, for Air Miles, exciting gifts from Citibank rewards catalogue, etc.
The card offers few benefits which though are common among credit cards now-a-days but still very rewarding. For starters the card welcomes you with 2 complimentary airline tickets. It also has EMI facility through which high cost purchase can be paid back in monthly EMIs.
Citibank Cash Rewards Credit Card comes with no Joining fee but an Annual fee of Rs 500. This when compared to Axis bank’s Gold Card or Standard Chartered’s Gold Reward Card which also has similar features on offer, has no Joining or Annual fees (though Standard Chartered’s Gold Reward Card has a Renewal fee of Rs 250.) The card compensates it Annual fee by offering a very competitive interest rate of 2.5% p.m.
A shopper’s card should always have a lower interest rate offering irrespective of fixed expense bracket and that’s what Citibank Cash Rewards Credit Card has to offer to its users.
