Citibank First Citizen Platinum Credit Card Review

Citibank First Citizen Platinum Credit Card is a co-branded card between Citibank and Shopper’s Stop. The card designed for shoppers, offers a host of benefits on purchases at Shopper’s Stop outlets. Purchases elsewhere do reap benefits but fall short of expectations in comparison to Platinum offering of other banks.
As for the Platinum welcome offer, the card accompanies discount vouchers on lunch buffets, accommodation at selected TAJ properties. However users are aware that these initial offerings are just gimmicks to drive them in purchasing the card. Apart from the welcome offer, the card has little to offer through Spend Vouchers, Coffee Vouchers, etc.
The card in comparison to ordinary First Citizen Credit Card has a better Reward Points program. For purchases at Shopper’s Stop, you earn 8 Reward Points for every Rs. 100 spent whereas 2 Reward Points for every Rs. 150 spent elsewhere. Most of the Reward points are redeemable against Shopper Stop offering or credit card bill.
Citibank First Citizen Platinum Credit Card has a special offering in a way of ‘Choose your Sale day’. In this offering, on any given day of your choice get a flat 15% off on your purchases at Shoppers Stop.
Citibank First Citizen Platinum Credit Card comes with Joining and Annual fees of Rs 1500. The charges are higher in comparison to Platinum offering by banks like HSBC and Axis but when compared to banks like RBS and Standard Chartered it actually looks reasonable. The interest rate offering on the card is 3.15% p.m. which again is a tad higher.
Citibank First Citizen Platinum Credit Card is thus an ordinary platinum card with few extra ordinary features.
