SBI Railway Card Review

SBI Railway Card is designed for frequent Railway travelers. The card is a co branded card brought to you by SBI Card and Indian Railways through its subsidiary, IRCTC. The card like any other co branded card offers discount and benefits on ticket purchases made at irctc.co.in. The card is useful if railway bookings are done regularly online as one can utilize the various cashback and surcharge waiver offers.
The card offer Reward points in the form of Railway points. Get Railway points as welcome offer and earn 1 Railway Point for every Rs. 125 spent on retail purchases. The card apart from few welcome offers and a Complementary Personal Rail Accident Insurance of Rs. 10 Lakh has nothing new or exclusive to offer its users.
The card has very few shopping benefits to offer as most of the Railways points earned are redeemable against free Railway tickets. Also apart from rail travel if a person wishes to travel by any other means of transport like Air travel the card has no discount or travel benefits to offer.
The card has very little competition to face due to its uniqueness. The card can be compared to other credit cards like RBS Make My Trip Go Card and Citibank Jet Airways Titanium Credit card.
SBI Railway Card has a Joining fee of Rs 500 and Annual fee of Rs 300. This when compared to cards like RBS Make My Trip Go Card and Citibank Jet Airways Titanium Credit card is on the higher side as both the cards have no Joining or Annual fee. The interest rate offering of the card is at 3.35% p.m. which is competitive in comparison to other cards.
