Standard Chartered Emirates Platinum Card Review

Standard Chartered Emirates Platinum Card is designed for those who fly frequently with Emirates Airlines and are looking forward for luxury but at a cost. The card is like any other co branded travelling card apart from the charges and offers rewarding privileges and benefits to its users. The card welcomes its users with Skywards, the frequent flyer program of Emirates Airlines. With this feature one can earn four Skywards miles for every Rs 150 spent on the card. Simply put this is the card’s Reward points program. Majority of Reward points are redeemable only against Emirates for free tickets or upgrade.
The card has features like Airport lounge access, travel insurance, etc. which is a common feature among most travelling cards. However due to its Platinum edition and high cost offcoz, the card offers the added advantage of Golf course access. Apart from these features the card has nothing new or exclusive to offer it users, which is surprising keeping in mind the card Annual fee. The card has an Annual fee of Rs 10000 which makes it one of the costliest cards on offer.
The high Annual fee is justified only with regards to Reward points program i.e. Skywards and few Golfing benefit. Apart from this most of the features on offer are common to most travelling cards. Simply put the card fails to justify its high cost.
The card can be compared to other credit cards like Citibank Jet Airways Platinum Credit Card and SBI Spicejet Card which have quarter the charges in comparison to Standard Chartered Emirates Platinum Card.
However the card has no Joining fee and an interest rate offering of 3.10% p.m. which is lower in comparison to the other two cards.
