Standard Chartered Platinum Elite Card Review

  • Standard Chartered Platinum Elite Card is designed exclusively for people belonging to the elite section of the society. Designed for aristocrats the card offers luxury at every step. However, with this card luxury comes at a cost. The card has a Joining fee of Rs 4995 and Annual fee of Rs 6000 which makes it one of the costliest cards on offer affordable only to a few.

As stated the card offers luxury at every step. For starters it has an extremely attractive Reward Points program giving the user an opportunity to earn upto five Reward points for every Rs 100 spent. Redemption of Reward points is an exciting affair due to number of options available for redemption.

The card offers access to golf courses around the world and discount on Green fees. The card is a complete All- Rounder offering benefits in all categories- shopping, dining or travel benefits. The card also offers access to over 500 VIP airport lounges around the world. Simply put it is difficult to find any flaw with the card. But then again if you are charging this high a fee one just cannot afford to have any flaw. The card also provides for travel insurance.

Standard Chartered bank keeping in mind the card’s high costs have tried to include most of the features a credit card could avail its users. This has resulted in a situation where the card’s primary offering or motive is overshadowed by few gimmicks which are termed as offers or benefits.

Nevertheless the card justifies its high cost by offering benefits on every possible purchase or expense. But the card is successful in offering very few benefits which a user can relate to.

Standard Chartered Platinum Elite Card can be compared to cards like HSBC Platinum Credit Card and RBS Platinum Gateway Credit Card. The card is similar to these cards with regards to benefits on offer and charges. The interest rate offering on the card is 3.10% p.m. which again is similar in comparison to the other two Platinum cards.
